Lastplak is a group of around nine painters with different backgrounds and diverse skills. Our goal is to paint, no matter what surface, size or location. Our work can be found all over the world, but our homebase is Rotterdam, so that's where most of our stuff can be seen. Ja toch!
Last Saturday it was time again for our yearly "Watnou caravan" painting session in Maassluis. We thought the annual " Maassluis open gallery route " would be a good moment to do this. Torrie, Pinwin, Sake, Ox-alien, Grrt & Acab showed up and the weather was great and so were the beers and food. Of course somebody asked us to paint their car also. No problemo!
Springtime! Get yo ass outdoors next Saturday april 12th.
At 13.00 we meet at Noordplein to ride the "Tour de Squat", a leisure ride along squats in Rotterdam, so get on your bike and ride with us, we need to see the streets full of cycling idiots. Of course the weather will be great so everybody will end up in the park for some food and drinks. (squat.net/rotterdam)
Then you need to take some rest and prepare for the second event of the day: Part two of the infamous Lastplak Party, during Motel Mozaique. Once again we got fresh tunes by our good friends the old TicToc boys, we got the HipHop Karaoke Machine by Baschz and FLady and we got visuals by WatNou. The location is still the same, Club Zonder Concessies, Kruiskade 26, Rotterdam. Party starts at 23:00 and ends around 05:00, see you there!
I promised a local toy store to paint a 9" BUD designer toy, but never really started, untill lately I had a nice idea for the bomb shaped head, which would be perfect to visualize the current opinions about Geert Wilders, a dumb ass wannabe dutch politician.
Recently there is a lot of worldwide tension around Geert Wilder's anti-islamic movie "Fitna". Allthough allmost everybody in Holland knows Wilders is a total retarded ignorant asshole, horny for attention and using "freedom of speech" as an excuse to get it, alot of people abroad think he speaks for all Dutch people and its government, which is not true.
So I thought I had a nice idea for painting this crap designer toy, but still I lack the skills for doing it the way I want it to be, so I asked our protege Rafael Badilla from Chili to do the paint job, which I think worked out pretty damn well. The result shows the "politician" Geert Wilders and his "terrrorist" dark side. ( because he provokes hate and sets up people against eachother) You can turn the head to choose between 2 sides.
THe toy will be braught back to the "Nieuwenhuizen modelbouw" shop at the Oude Binnenweg for exposing it in the window of their shop. I hope they put it. It will not be for sale at the shop, please email for serious bids, not fot death threats or hate mail.
During the Rotterdam museumnight we painted a container for Maritime Museum. Allthough it was cold and windy, we brought our nice tropical reggae soundsystem, lots of friends, paint and beer. Old School GRRT was with us again and Torrie's objects were on display in the museum. Later that week P Bloem added his stuff and GRRT finished his job, with support from lots of hobby photographers, padvinders and girlie groupies.
Thursday the 7th of february was the opening of the "KUnsTZOOI" expo at the Post-CS building in Amsterdam. The expo featured the worst works of 5 artists that were demolished for a BNN tv-show on 101TV. Next to the works there was the presentation of the video footage shot for this program, now online:
For 3xS fashion, beauty and art shop at the Zaagmolenstraat in Rotterdam North we painted 5 shutters. We painted it in different sessions with 10 different artists: Oles, Torrie, Yen, Pinwin, Ces53, Ox-alien, F-Lady, Sickboy, Sterf & friend.
The Lastplak Party was great! Thanks to TicToc for playing some real funky tunes, Dj Acab for his contribution, Grrt for the visuals, Tlp for skinning up and everybody who showed up.
Somehow we got asked to host a party in the Rotterdam based Club Zonder Concessies. Of course we had a few demands that had to be met, but unfortunatly there was only one thing we couldn't change, and that was the entrance fee, we got it down to 3 euro now, so start saving and we'll see you there the 2nd of february! Our buddy's from TicToc will be taking care of the music, Grrt has composed a nice little movie about us (after all, it's still during the IFFR) and we have instructed the bar to keep the juice flowing!
