Lastplak is a group of around nine painters with different backgrounds and diverse skills. Our goal is to paint, no matter what surface, size or location. Our work can be found all over the world, but our homebase is Rotterdam, so that's where most of our stuff can be seen. Ja toch!
During this edition of the festival Wereld van de Witte de With we participated in the 24uurCultuur. The Mothership had once again called us, and arranged some nice 2×8 meter canvasses for us and spread them out over the city. One was located op Zuid at the Wilhelminakade, one at the Schouwburgplein and one between the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum and the museum for architecture NAi. The theme was loosely based on the works of Banksy and we had to paint for 24 hours straight. Surviving thunderstorms, rain, wind, alcohol drenched party’s and the sundaymorning blues, we managed to finish them all in time. The gods did get angry, but were kind enough to only let one tower collapse, fortunatly with nobody on or under it.
Ox-Alien, Pinwin, Thor, Oles & Kbtr painted 6 background decorations for the dutch televison program “Over de streep“. This thursday 21:30 on NED 1 is the last episode. Here some pictures.
Last saturday Pinwin, Ox-Alien, Sake & Das Boat were on their way to the “Paint & Beer” event in Amsterdam but got stuck in Delft because of the dutch train F&*k-up. So they decided to join the “Farewell Irenetunnel Jam” in Delft. There they painted a Lastplak blockbuster and went back to Rotterdam to have a BBQ and more beers at the studio. Later that night the same crew went to Waterfront (club) to have a live paint session with DJ Miss Monica, here the Shambokkers join the crew and in the end they sold the canvas. Once again a great day!
Last friday we had the “Halfway” expo with Mark Goss and Michiel van der Born. The name “Halfway” was chosen because Rotterdam lies in the middle of Antwerp and Amsterdam and Homebase is the place these two great artist had their first collabo exhibition together. The guys also painted the sign in front of the shop and “halfway” during the opening they sneaked away to paint something quick on the streets of Rotterdam.
Here some pictures.
A lot of people showed up at the Homebase openings party last friday. The free beers went down well and the police even came by to check the expo. This week we still have the “Street art” photo expo and next friday the 19th Mark Goss and Michiel van der Born have their show. So come and check it out, Homebase will be there till the 10th of September (more info check the flyer below) here some pics of the opening.
